Curtis Wayne Ison, 64, of Lancaster, passed away March 22, 2024 at his home. He was born on March 21, 1960 in Garrard County to the late Henry Warren and Ruth Vandyke Ison.
Curtis loved fishing, camping and eating out with friends. He also loved to gamble on his phone and insisted on being early for every event he attended. Curtis had zero patience. He deeply loved his children and was a member of St Paul Predestinarian Baptist Church of Lancaster.
Surviving is his wife, Sharon Ison of Lancaster; a son, Ruben Catching of Lancaster; daughters, Robin Ford (Lamar) of Lancaster and Paige Harper of Harrodsburg; step-children, Chris Penix (Alex) and Kimberly Penix, both of Lancaster; grandchildren, Dorian Gaines, Braelyn Gaines, Jaylen Gaines, Martae "Dukeshoot" Ford, and Chozyn Harper; step-grandchildren, Aubree Penix, Mason Penix, Zoey Penix; a brother, Paul Vandyke (Margaret) of Lancaster, a sister, Penny Logan (Davey) of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Liz Ison of Harrodsburg and numerous nieces and nephews. Curtis also leaves behind his special friend, who was a dog, Mut-Mut.
He is preceded in death by a son, Anthony Gaines and siblings, Sue Overstreet, Billy Warren, Raymond Warren, Midge Ison, Melvin Ison, and Butch Ison.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Spurlin Funeral Home with Elder James McPherson officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time. Burial will follow after the service to Duncantown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darius Hale, Tim Snodgrass, Simon Norris, Billy Dailey, Terry Dunn, and Tyrone Spillman.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Mitchell Ray, Britton Catching, Michael Dawson, Richard Overstreet, Tony Overstreet, Elmer Warren, Ernest Dunn, and Robert Frye.
